Healthy Active Living

Healthy Active Living is committed to ensuring that all persons 60 and older live active and healthy lives. 

Citiparks Community Services operates 14 senior community centers. Each center focuses on improving the lives of older Pittsburghers, physically, intellectually, socially, culturally and financially. 

Building the Body 

Healthy Active Living recognizes that health and wellness are key to the quality of life of our seniors.  With this in mind HAL offers a variety of exciting physical activities and sports programs. 

Please join us for horseshoe pitching, shuffleboard, bocce, darts, Wii bowling and more at our community centers.  

To enhance healthy, active living, we offer the winter and summer games for people 60+ and the statewide competition in the Senior Games.

Stretching the Mind

To foster the intellectual interests of seniors, Healthy Active Living offers a variety of classes in partnership with the Community College of Allegheny County.

Expanding the Knowledge of Others 

Healthy Active Living recognizes the diverse nature of our community. To foster a better sense of community HAL has developed cultural experiences recognizing the vast contributions of the African American, Asian and Latino communities.

To address the financial needs of seniors, the Information and Referral program can assist with...

Senior Community Centers are open from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday (except major holidays).

Asian American Program

Location: Greenfield Senior Community Center 475 Greenfield Avenue 

Time: One Wednesday per month 11 am to 3 pm.

Healthy Active Living - along wih the Organization of Chinese Americans(OCA)—has developed the Asian American Program. This program is designed to serve seniors from the Asian American community. 

Monthly activities take place throughout the year at the Greenfield Senior Community Center. Featured topics include health and wellness, nutrition, information and referral, socialization and recreation.  

The center also offers "English as a Second Language" (ESL) classes. 

The program, which is partially funded by the Area Agency on Aging, meets throughout the year.

Senior Lunch Program

Residents age 60+ can enjoy a free nutritious lunch at CitiParks senior centers. The program runs Monday through Friday. Meals are provided through a partnership with the Allegheny County Department of Human Services and the Area Agency on Aging. = 

To have lunch at a senior center, please pre-register by noon the day before going to the center.  

Lunches are usually served at noon (see table below). Please contact your center directly for more information.
